To ensure the efficient management of waste generated across its departments and enterprises, Tolkynneftegas LLC has implemented a structured approach to waste collection, sorting, transportation, utilization, and disposal in accordance with its Waste Management Plan (WMP). As stipulated in the WMP, production waste and drilling sludge are transferred to the Waste Centre of the Environmental Department for proper handling and disposal.
To modernize and align the Waste Centre with contemporary environmental standards, a Feasibility Study for the Reconstruction of the Waste Centre was developed under a contract between Tolkynneftegas LLC and US M-I L.L.C., supported by a grant from the US Trade and Development Agency (TDA). This initiative aims to enhance waste management efficiency while ensuring compliance with international environmental regulations.
In accordance with Section 5.4 of the Comprehensive Action Plan for Environmental Condition Improvement (2015-2021), approved by Resolution No. 1697 dated September 26, 2013, Tolkynneftegas LLC has undertaken significant air protection measures. This includes the establishment of three state-of-the-art ecological monitoring stations in Almaty districts, equipped with advanced environmental assessment technology.
To ensure continuous monitoring of emissions, modern gas analyzers (Stargas-898, Smokemeter-495/01) have been installed at these stations. These devices measure CO, HC, NOX, and CO₂ emissions with high precision. Emissions from company vehicles and specialized machinery are analyzed and compared against national regulatory standards. The resulting reports are then shared with relevant enterprises, enabling them to take corrective actions as needed to maintain environmental compliance.
The Industrial Safety Management System (ISMS) at Tolkynneftegas LLC is an integral component of the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Integrated Management System (HSE IMS). It comprises a set of interrelated organizational and technical measures designed to prevent accidents, mitigate risks, and ensure the safe operation of hazardous production facilities (HIFs).
A key strength of this system is its comprehensive application across all four hazard classes, exceeding the standard legal requirement that mandates safety systems only for Class I and II HIFs. This proactive approach ensures uniformity in industrial safety management across all operations, significantly reducing accident risks while aligning safety standards with the latest technological advancements and industry best practices.
By extending the ISMS to all levels of hazardous production, Tolkynneftegas LLC not only meets but surpasses regulatory expectations, ensuring a consistently high standard of industrial safety throughout its operations.
